St. James – St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands.
The old Garrison Church of St. Peter Port – renovated in the 1980s and again in 2003 and transformed into a concert hall – was the wonderful venue for this charity gala in Autumn 2008, with a special guest performance by the legend of opera, Spanish tenor José Carreras. The commission - to create a contemporary floral premier for this historically important Guernsey venue – led Karin to collaborate closely with the Diva Opera Company and the event organisers to match flowers and table linen with Nicola Jackson’s daring and colourful 1960s-inspired costumes for the company’s interpretation of Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène.
Karin worked once more with the talented Swiss metal-worker Ronny Niederberger to design and create elegant steel stands from which she and her team suspended over two-hundred floral mobiles to decorate dining tables, stage, gallery and the exterior and grounds of the hall itself.
